From Lockdown to Online Education: The Remarkable Journey of ‘Learning Bangladesh

The global pandemic brought a myriad of challenges. For many, it was a time of uncertainty and change. Yet, for some, it was a canvas of opportunity. I want to share my journey of how quarantine led to the birth of ‘Learning Bangladesh’.

The Humble Beginnings

March 2020 saw the world shutting down due to the menacing threat of COVID-19. As the lockdown became our reality, I found myself in Chandpur, away from my workplace in Dhaka. With limited resources – just a laptop, an unstable internet connection, and a credit card – I saw an opportunity.

Seizing the Opportunity

Drawing on my five years of training experience, I embarked on the journey to create ‘Learning Bangladesh’. I hired Joy Barai, a talented young individual, who became a pillar in this venture. We faced initial challenges – the lack of recording equipment and poor internet connection. However, undeterred, I utilized what was available, repurposing content from my YouTube channel and transforming it into a structured online course.

Making Strides

My announcement on Facebook about ‘Learning Bangladesh’ went unnoticed. Yet, I persevered, launching the platform overnight. The ‘LinkedIn Marketing Tips’ course, compiled from existing videos, was our pilot offering. Much to our delight, within 15 days, we received over 1500 positive reviews with Joy crafting hundreds of certificates manually, a testament to our commitment.

Turning Challenges into Success

With an initial investment of only 5000 BDT on my credit card, we took a leap of faith. Over the next nine months, that leap led to over 15k learners enrolling in our 20+ paid courses. This venture, which began as a lockdown pastime, metamorphosed into a significant revenue generator.

The Future Beckons

By April 2023, ‘Learning Bangladesh’ had achieved enough success to move to a physical space. We established our presence in a 2200-square-feet office in Mirpur DOHS, Dhaka, furnished and ready for bigger dreams. The shift to offline daylong workshops has been exhilarating. Our workshop on Business Lead Generation and Automation even caught the attention of corporate giants like the Pathao Courier team.
